Who We Are
From Our Founder: My Vision for SAF
I was lucky enough to have a mother who always told me, “You can.”
My belief in that idea, along with my mother’s belief in me, propelled me to achieve many things I’m proud of… in my education, my career, and my life.
When I began to realize that not everyone had someone to tell them, “You can,” I wondered…
What if we all had someone who believed in us?
What if we all had more access to live our respective dreams and purpose?
Access to our own strengths, to our own agency, to our own creativity, untethered. Just imagine the possibilities…
Sparked by this question, I was inspired to create the Sustainable Access Foundation (SAF). With a Ph.D. in International Development and deep experience in the Diffusion of Innovation, I knew I could help bring more access and opportunity to more people around the world.
What is Access?
We believe that “access” is knowing that there is a door to walk through if you choose.
It’s our intention to focus on access because it’s the entry point to sustainable individual and communal growth. Access opens endless possibilities and allows for pathways to phenomenal ideas. Access is the beginning stage of a changing, more equitable world for all.
Today, the world faces unprecedented change and challenges, as access gaps are widening, not shrinking, and sustainable solutions for development are increasingly more critical.
It is my personal vision for SAF to invest in and promote community-driven well-being and development. We want to open up the doors of access to more and more people with life-changing ideas.
Through SAF, we can explore new models of access to funding, partnerships, knowledge sharing, and innovations for scalable development in emerging economies. It is through the lens of curiosity and adaptability that we will evolve together and help each other thrive.
A dear friend from Uganda told me, “Success is when the entire community rises together.” SAF endeavors for this type of success.
